Although
previously the word coursework referred to the general assignment, which could be an essay, nowadays, when talking about coursework students are required
to produce the reports. So, if you need to write the coursework (report) please refer to the how to write an essay page for
main guidelines. Writing coursework differs from writing an essay in the number of ways:
- Courseworks are generally more structured: you will have headings
and sub-headings; cross-referencing and other important issues you will see in the formal reports
- It is useful (and will usually get you more marks) if you
will make the content page and number each section and sub-section of the report
- Courseworks are usually referring to the practical side: about
the company, industry, and product. They can include calculations, planning, assessment anything else apart from almost 100%
theory you will face when writing an essay
- Courseworks are usually longer than essays (e.g. usual essay
is 2000 words, where usual coursework is 3000 words)
- Courseworks usually have abstract or executive summary (100-300
words), where the main point of the work are highlighted
- Courseworks may include graphs, pictures, diagrams, photographs
- When writing coursework (report) you would not generally engage
in serious theoretical arguments youll be looking more into practical sides of the argument
- These are just general guidelines, however they surely differ
from subject to subject, so dont be lazy and read your University Guidelines.
- Lastly, please do NOT use FUNNY FONTS when
submitting your work your tutor will have to read it, and if he or she will be facing difficulties reading your work it is
likely to affect their attitude towards it. Use Times New Roman, Arial or Verdana, 10-12 normal fonts.
